We take the Great Commission seriously at Family Life Worship Center, and we have always put our money were our mouth is. Not only do we partner with MCUSA in order to participate in church planting and missions, but also even before we were chartered as a church we were doing evangelical outreaches and sending missionaries, both locally and abroad.
In the past we have supported three different missionaries to Africa, another missionary in Israel and one in the Philippines. For the past two years we have sent one of our Arms of Love college students, on 2 stateside missions. Presently we are involved with 3 long-term missionaries above and beyond our cooperative work:
Jim and Sherry Oxendine
Jim and Sherry Oxendine began ministering in Russia in 1992, joined GO TO NATIONS in 1996 and moved to Russia as full time missionaries in 1998. From 1999 to 2005, the Oxendines served GO TO NATIONS (formerly Calvary International) as National Directors of Russia and as Eurasia Regional Directors.
In the early years, they led short-term teams to many areas of the former Soviet Union to hold evangelistic crusades, plant churches, and help train pastors and leaders.
While living in St. Petersburg, they founded International Christian Center, focusing on the international community of students attending universities.
The church still thrives today. Sherry has worked and ministered extensively in over 100 orphanages in Russia and the Ukraine.
Currently, Jim and Sherry Oxendine serve as Directors of Church Relations and International Training Coordinators. They are working with a team to train pastors and leaders around the world in Global Pathway – a mission’s mobilization tool that serves as a pastor’s guide to building a Great Commission church. The desire is to see emerging Christian nations take a major step from being a “missions receiving” nation to becoming a “missions sending” force in the earth.
The Oxendines are also developing International Equipping Centers at established GTN missionary bases to train leaders. Through this leadership empowering program, national pastors and leaders will go to a whole new level of ministry effectiveness. They travel extensively to the Philippines, Russia, Ukraine and within Central and South America, as well as assisting churches in America.
Jim and Sherry are ordained ministers and have served as Pastors of churches in America and in Russia.
